An Evening of Tasty Treasures with Sweet Charity & Bunch Auctions

On Monday, March 21st here at William Bunch Auctions and Appraisals, The Chester County Community Foundation held their annual sweet-tooth-satisfying event, Sweet Charity. Chester County locals and Community support leaders herded through our doors to sample the creme de la creme from Chester County's finest dessert chefs.

This was actually my first time experiencing Sweet Charity, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect from the delicacy disputants. However, as a culinary-aspirer, years of binge-watching Food Network and Top Chef had shaped lofty expectations.

I watched all day long as our auction house transformed into a beautiful dining area. Even though it was 45 degrees out, inside our showroom Spring had sprung with tables of purple and blue, topped with gorgeous arrangements of lillies.

As 4:30 soon approached, and servers began to make their rounds with platters of tasty-tidbits.

'Would you like to sample our Ahi Tuna with Wasabi Aolio?' Of course!

'Care to try a Korean shortrib taco?' Don't mind if I do!

'French Onion Soup bite?' Oui Oui!

One by one, I piled the savory snackies into my mouth until I realized, wait Ashley, save some room for the desserts! I've never taken better advice from myself. The sweet-tooth showdown was between eight of Chester County's leading dessert masters. Let me tell you, not one of them held back - this was a no-holds-barred battle to tasty town. Apple pie gelato bites! Amaretto chocolate truffles! Raspberry tiramusu! Oh my goodness, I couldn't even think clearly, I was in a state of complete and utter sugary bliss.

For me, the star of the show was a strawberry cream cheese grilled-cheese sandwich with a shotglass of strawberry dipping sauce - clearly others thought so too because the dish won the Most Popular Dessert award!

It was great to see the guests checking out our glass cases of antiques and collectibles in between bites of delectable desserts. The event made me realize how truly lucky I am to be a part of a company so enthused about rasing community awareness. Sweet Charity is an annual fundraising event for the Chester County Community Foundation. The Community Foundation connects people who care with causes that matter, so their philanthropy makes a difference in the community now and forever.

Bill Bunch, gracious sponsor and host of Sweet Charity, gave a wonderful speech at the end of the evening. Bunch talked about his love of the Community Foundation’s mission as well as this event.

In between my mingling and snacking, I managed to snap a few photos of the smiling faces that surrounded me that evening. I hope you all enjoy!
